The Politicising of Tribal Functions

On Sunday I was greeted with sirens while I was on my way to Church. I was told that the President of Malawi was going to Mulhako Wa a Lhomwe. An annual gathering of all the Lhomwe people in Malawi. It came as no surprise to me as it He also comes from that tribe but what surprised me were the Democratic Progressive Party cars that were busy ferrying people to the function. If one could ask if all these people were Lhomwes he would be surprised to find that most of the people were not even lhomwe.  And instead of wearing Mulhako Wa a Lhomwe official colours the people were actually wearing their party's blue colours. Was this a Democratic Progressive Party rally perharps??? Is Mulhako Wa a Lhomwe a DPP committee??? I could hear the youth in the cars sing songs of praise for the President. "What correlation is there between what the President has done and the Mulhako Wa a Lhomwe?" I ask myself.  I continued heading for church but with so many questions in my mind. I...
