My Polytechnic, My Cry

We’ve all heard that the students especially those at the universities are the future of tomorrow. They carry the hopes of all the nation on their shoulders as such one would expect them to be given the right conditions and infrastructure. To the general public the university is more like a paradise where students are the saints and the lecturers are more like angels. Secondary students dream of walking through the corridors of these universities thinking it’s the best place they could ever be at. Such is not the case for the University of Malawi The Polytechnic. Dilapidated buildings take the joy out of the students who make it to the college. The blank sign post that was supposed to be the campus map welcomes all the visitors to the  campus. Archaic hostels with their unsanitary conditions greet the few students who are given accommodation at the college campus. Empty promises have been made and never fulfilled.
